Heh, yeah, that sounds like his sense of humour. A lot of us Brits have one like that wink Probably why British sitcoms don't fair so well overseas, lol

They're in a position to do a lot of good, y'know. They're not bound by the international politics that bog down relations. Lucky for me and what I'm saying, Prince Charles is currently in Iran, today he was touring the devastation of the earthquake. Because he's not involved in politics, the current political relationship between Britain and Iran doesn't affect him - he's even been joking with their leader (I'm not sure if they call him prime minister or 'premier' or something, someone tell me if you know) about the back aches they share and stuff. If someone important but not involved in politics can get on with someone generally considered to be our enemy like that, I reckon international relations with Iran might not be so uncomfortable for a while after this. And indeed, any other country in a similar situation.

Yeah. Politicians are like children - they don't get their own way, they sulk and bear grudges. Or just go to war undecided

If Parliament House is the Australian phrase, it's beyond my realm of knowledge. But hey, that's probably 'cause not so much scandal comes out of Australia as some other places, that's a plus I guess. I do know they're not hot on assylum seekers and immigrants though... can't say I blames 'em considering the percentage of them who just go onto state benefits, or even turn to crime, as soon as they arrive.

What do you mean "the aim of parliament house"?

Well I mean in the US, AUstralia UK and everywhere else, we have 'parliament houses' or (upper and lower houses, senate, house of representatives).

How does the system of debate and legislation aid the people. I mean, in the end, the party with more seats is going to win.
Is it that some politicians will give the point of view of the people and if the government rules against that, then they will have an angry public on their hands?
IF so, what actual power does the public have in matters of legislation if it up to how many seats one party has anyway?

I think the idea is that if the policies of a party meet your own, you vote for them. If those policies meet those of many people, the party gets many seats and thus obviously speaks for a large chunk of the people.
In practice, it's usually a two- or three-horse race, and the parties are now so similar that people vote on which leader is a jackass or not.
I always say, the only difference between a dictatorship and a democracy is that you vote several dictators in, instead of being unable to choose one.
